About the Artist, Lady Sylviane

Hello, my name is Lady Sylviane. Allow me to share with you a little of my personal history and my continuous passion for dolls. As a little girl growing up in Nice, France I just loved playing with my dolls. My first doll was a Baby Boy doll given to me by my grandmother, who made all his outfits by hand. She loved to sew and made matching clothing for me and my dolls.
I can still remember Christmas at my house. There was always a box with a new surprise"doll with her own beautiful wardrobe. All 'hand-made" by my Grandmother, of course. Truly this is what made Christmas so special for me! The best part of her influence was highlighted each time I went "anywhere". It seems I always carried a large bag..... bigger than I was! Inside were all my treasures... my dolls, a small sewing kit, and some pieces of material. This way, in an effort to be a good little girl and keep myself occupied, I learned to make clothing for my own dolls. I would play for hours with these dolls, they were, afterall, like my little children.

Today, as I reflect on those early childhood days, I see nothing has changed.... I still play with dolls, but now, stylish ones with all the glitz, fur (faux of course, as I adore animals and have several of my own) and jewels. Making and designing clothes for dolls has, over time, truly become my passion. For the past 25 years, I owned a costume shop in Galveston, Texas where I not only made but also designed costumes for adults and children. During this phase of my life I won many awards with the NCA (National Costume Association) of which I was a member for 20 years. Additionally at this time, I became involved in the production of various pageants. In 1995 my husband retired, I closed the shop and we moved to Galveston County, Texas. After awhile it became apparent that something was still missing in my life ... the creative energy, so well utilized in the costume shop was still very much alive, but had no real application. Although I remained involved, though to a lesser extent ,with pageant production, my new direction remained unclear. The rigors of now living on a pension made it quickly apparent that I needed to help supplement family income. So, Real-estate sales seemed like a good idea, afterall there was a real boom in property sales all over the country during the past 5 years. Why not give that a try, I thought. Although I did quite well, for a new career, something was amiss! Those creative urges were still not being fulfilled. One day while reminiscing on those fun "pageant" days .. swept-up in the glitz and glamour of lavish stage settings, beautiful gowns, tiaras and scepters...it hit me and the direction became clear. Why not merge my love of cothing design, sewing and pageantry and develop a line of lavishly elegant clothing for dolls. One thing led to another and, with my husband's encouragement, I began selling my creations on Ebay. Having experienced much success in this new venture I thought I would expand my line even further. In an effort to bring personal talent and previous career accomplishments together it is with pride and pleasure that I now launch "Lady Sylviane's Creations". This will be a"signature" line of dolls each dressed with one of my NCA award winning costumes. My specialty will be a unique, hand made, exquisite clothing line for dolls. I assure you Collectors will be very proud to add Lady Sylviane's Creation dolls to their own personal collection. All doles are unique and one of a kind.
Dolls are the smae but with differen outfits and hairstyles. Each comes with a certificate and seal of authenticity. As for personal self actualization, the thought of creating outfits that span the gamut from lavish gowns to detailed "Victorian" and other period costumes....what could be better! I guarantee you.... I, Lady Sylviane just like my Grandmother so many years ago in France, personally design and sew all of my original dolls from start to finish.
